Joining the Orange Texas USA Rotary Club
Any person who meets membership requirements established by Rotary International and who wishes to become part of the Orange Texas USA Rotary Club must be sponsored by a member in good standing of the Club and then be invited for membership by the Board of Directors. The member nominee receives background and orientation information so that a decision to accept or reject the Board's invitation can be made. If the member nominee decides to proceed, their name is announced to Club members during a regular Club meeting. Members have 7 days in which to file written objections to a proposed new member. If no objections are properly and timely made, then the new member pays an admission fee and is inducted in a ceremony held during a regular meeting of the Club. If objections are properly and timely made, the Board of Directors considers the membership proposal and the objections, and votes again on the question of inviting the person into Club membership. The decision of the Board is final unless a vote of the entire Club membership is properly taken and the Board's decision is overturned.
By way of summary, new member criteria include:
- Prospective members must be residents of or work within the Club's local service area, and be engaged in, or retired from, a professional, proprietary, self employed, executive or managerial position.
- Member candidates must have the desire and ability to serve and to meet the club's attendance requirements.
- Each member candidate's job or profession must fall within a "Business Classification".
